Frederick Poole was employed as a shirt cutter and was married to Charlotte Poole.  As part of the SLI's 1st/5th Battalion he was stationed in the Middle East as part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force.  He died during the Battle of Nebi Samwil (Samuel's Tomb), part of the Battle for Jerusalem.  This action saw several men commemorated on the St James memorial die on the same day, including Harry Palmer from Malvern Terrace and Ernest Gibbs from Albemarle Road.
